Critical Review 3

 Introduction

            Howard Zinn (August 24^th 1922 - January 27^th 2010) was an American historian, author, playwright, and social activist.  He was also a political science Professor at Boston University for 24 years and taught history at Spelman College for seven years.  He wrote more than 20 books, included the best-seller of his book entitled A People’s History of the United States.  Based on Zinn’s article entitled Speaking Truth to Power with Books, he has broken the people’s persfective about the America continent’s history that Christoper Columbus was not the discoverer of the America continent.  However, Zinn reveals that Columbus as a murderer, a torturer, a kidnaper, a mutilator of native people, a hypocrate, a greedy man looking for gold, willing to kill people and mutilate people.

 

Summary

            There are several basic points that Zinn wrote on Columbus, whom we ridiculously perceive as the hero or the discoverer of America. 

            First, during the time Columbus was known as discoverer of America continent.  In this case, zinn write down about facts of Columbus that unknown by general public.  Even though, Zinn reveals Columbus as a murderer, a torturer, a kidnaper, a mutilator of native people, a hypocrate, a greedy man looking for gold, willing to kill people and mutilate people.  It was shocking. 

Second, based on history which confessed by many people, Columbus arrived at America continent on October 12^th 1492.  Initially he predicted that the place uninhabited, but later he met original tribe over there which we recognized by the name of Indian Tribe.  In the begining, they greet Columbus conveniently.  But after intention of Columbus to make their region as one of the colony of Spanyol, then Columbus get many deduction of Indian tribe.  Even according to some history, there are many ship of entourage of Columbus engulfed by Indian tribe. They feel threatened with attendance of Columbus and his entourage.  According to some history, Columbus was not first European who arrived at the region, cause the true thing has happened in cronology of historical science that Viking came from Europe North have stepped on its foot in America continent at the 11^th century.  Even they have time to find colony over there.  Therefore, it did not know how its process, Christoffa Corombo or Columbus just still noted as discoverer of America continent.

            Third, the researchers of history have shown many evidence confirming theory that Columbus is not the first discoverer of America continent.  This is because there are a lot of physical evidence such as inscriptions prove that long time before Columbus arrived in the America, there was a character named Cheng Ho or Zheng He who arrived 70 years before Columbus.  Even some historians also argue that centuries before Zheng He, the merchants at the same Muslim sailors had set foot on the American continent and make settlements there.  Specially, they married local residents and has become an integral part of the native tribes in the America.  This opinion is blatantly written by a researcher named Dr. Yousseef Mroueh in his essay are quite popular, entitled "Precolumbian Muslims in America"​.  This paper presents many physical facts and historical manuscripts, therefore there is still                      no objection to it.

            Fourth, until now the name of Columbus is still known as discoverer of America continent.  This is because at the time happened expulsion of Jew clan from Spanyol counted 300.000 people by king of Ferdinand, an obedient Christian, it made Jew look after fund for the sea transport of Columbus.  Then the news of invention of America continent sent at the first time by Christopher Columbus to his closed friends of Jew in Spanyol. This sea transport of Columbus likely starve for publication and needed to create legend as according to 'message of sponsor' Jew is the funder.  The next story we know that mass media and publication mastered by Jews.  Therefore, there is dishonesty in write down the history’s fact about invention of America continent.  Deviation of history by Jew happened since first time they with European footprint to America continent.

          Therefore, the theory which tell Columbus is the first one who step on foot in America continent is untested old theory.  It did not deny that era of Columbus is very important time in world history altering way of living in America continent and Europe.   However, to be said that he is the one who first step on foot in America continent is very weak theory.

Main Body (Critique)

There are two basic points on Columbus that are neglected in Zinn’s article.  First, on Zinn’s article he reveals that Columbus was not the first one who discover the America continent.  Even though, there are a lot of physical evidence and research that Muslim who the first one that step on foot in America continent.  Even some historians also argue that centuries before Cheng Ho or Zheng He, the merchants at the same Muslim sailors had set foot on the American continent and make settlements there.  Specially, they married local residents and has become an integral part of the native tribes in the America.  This opinion is blatantly written by a researcher named Dr. Yousseef Mroueh in his essay are quite popular, entitled "Precolumbian Muslims in America"​.  This paper presents many physical facts and historical manuscripts, therefore there is still no objection to it.  However, he did not write down explicitly that the first one who discover America is Muslim or who exactly the first discoverer America is. 

Second, surely he knows about the historical truth about the first one who discover the America continent is Muslim.  But, he impressed covering up the truth of the history of the America continent.  This is probably due to Zinn is a clear establishment of anti-Jewish and anti- Zionist Israel, so that Zinn did not want to write  the person who first discovered the America were Muslims. 

Therefore, there are two basic points on Columbus that are neglected in Zinn’s article.  On Zinn’s article he reveals that Columbus was not the first one who discover the America continent.  However, he did not write down explicitly that the first one who discover America is Muslim or who exactly the first discoverer America is.  In this case, surely he knows about the historical truth about the first one who discover the America continent is Muslim.  But, he impressed covering up the truth of the history of the America continent. 

  

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are basic point that can be concluded from Zinn’s article entitled Speaking Truth to Power with Books, he has broken the people’s persfective about the America continent’s history that Christoper Columbus was not the discoverer of the America continent.  However, Zinn reveals that Columbus as a murderer, a torturer, a kidnaper, a mutilator of native people, a hypocrate, a greedy man looking for gold, willing to kill people and mutilate people.  The Zinn’s article entitled Speaking Truth to Power with Books opened our eyes and minds to say that the truth had to be revealed truth, especially if it is about history.  It can be written in a medium called the book.
