Tak terasa sebentar lagi mata kuliah
writing and composition 4 akan segera berakhir. Setiap minggunya aku selalu
dibuat gila dengan segala tugas mk ini yang begitu menguras konsentrasi,
meskipun demikian senyum di wajahku dapat mengembang saat aku berhasil membuat
essay sesuai dengan yang Pak Lala instruksikan. Tiap harinya tangan, mata,
otak, hati, semuanya ikut bekerja. Membaca-baca artikel di internet, mencari
informasi, memikirkan ide-ide, kemudian merangkainya menjadi sebuah essay sudah
menjadi rutinitas harianku. Sedih, jengkel, lelah, galau, bahagia, turut
mewarnai proses-proses pembuatan jenis-jenis teks yang ada di semester 4 ini.
Di essay terakhirku ini Insya Allah akan memberikan yang terbaik, meskipun rasa
malas terus mendera karena sudah ada dihadapan mata kurang lebih satu bulan
lagi libur panjang. Yuk semangat. Do your best, persistence !
What is Argumentative
Essay?
Sudah menjadi kebiasaanku setiap kali
jenis-jenis teks datang silih berganti untuk segera aku kuasai biasanya hal
yang pertama aku lakukan adalah benar-benar memahami pengertian, fungsi dan
struture dari jenis teks apa yang akan aku kerjakan. Saat ini tiba pada giliran

The differences among
expository,exposition, and argumentative essay:
1. Expository: knowing
and informing people about the topic. Less research.
2. Exposition: Persuade
the reader, Perbedaan kedalaman.
3. Argumentative: Deep
research, detailed research, invention deeper.
“An arguemntative essay you have to persuade
your audience to consider your point of view, even if they may disagree with
you. You must write clearly and logically, by showing your aguments with
evidences, reasons, and tetxs”
Argumentative essay adalah jenis teks yang digunakan untuk meyakinkan pembaca
bahwa topik yang dihadirkan adalah topik yang penting untuk dibahas atau
mendapat perhatian dengan cara pemberian argumen-argumen atau pendapat-pendapat
yang mendukung ide pokok atau topik tersebut. Dalam menulis teks ini, penulis
perlu mencari sumber informasi agar argumen yang dikemukakan cukup kuat untuk
mempengaruhi pembaca atau pendengar.
The structure of
argumentative essay:
1. Introduction, “Background information about the topic dan
thesis statement.” Penulis memperkenalkan tentang topik atau ide pokok yang
akan dibahas.
2. Body, “Arguments.” Dalam bagian ini penulis
menghadirkan argumen-argumen atau pendapat-pendapat yang mendukung ide pokok
penulis.
3. Conclusion, “Summary,
solution, prediction, or recommendation.”
Pada bagian ini merupakan bagian penutup, berisi tentang saran dari penulis
atas thesis dan arguments yang dikemukakan. Biasanya ada kata-kata should,
should not, ought to, ought not to, dll (that’s the ways to tell your own
suggestion here).
Berikut di bawah ini
contohnya:
Ada
seorang teman yang merokok, kita bisa saja memberikan pendapat kita bahwa
merokok itu tidak baik. So the thesis is “Smoking is not good for your health.”
Kemudian di body paragraph kita akan memberikan alasan-alasan mengapa merokok
itu tidak baik, so we tell the arguments that support our thesis. Selanjutnya
kesimpulan berisi tentang saran dari penulis atas Thesis dan Arguments yang
dikemukakannya. Akan ada kata-kata “Should” sebagai cara untuk menuangkan saran
dari penulis. Dan yang terakhir jangan lupa tujuan jenis teks ini pada intinya
adalah membujuk pembaca agar terpengaruh sesuai apa yang diinginkan oleh penulis.
Kesimpulannya, thesis berisi
paragraf pendek yang mengandung pernyataan kontroversial sebagai tanggapan atas
masalah yang muncul. Argument berisi paragraf yaang menyatakan argumentasi
penulis akan thesis-nya di paragraf pertama. Recommendation berisi tentang
saran-saran penulis untuk menyelesaikan persoalan yang berhubungan dengan
thesis. Tenses yang digunakan ialah present tenses, karena teks jenis ini
berisi informasi yang bernentuk paparan argumentasi atau pendapat dalam
menanggapi suatu permasalah. Jadi, arumentative essay terdiri dari thesis,
argument, recommendation.

of my argumentative essay:
Introduction
Define the topic: Why
West Papua should still be part for NKRI
(Thesis statement)This
paper provides some arguments about why West Papua should still be a part of
NKRI, because of these reasons, namely history, culture, and natural resources.
(Support the thesis).
Indonesia certainly will never allow West Papua separate from NKRI. It is
caused West Papua is one of Indonesia's most province rich in natural resources
and also West Papua includes one of the larger
province in Indonesia
Body
Limit the topic
(Argument 1) The government
of Indonesian only focuses to exploit West Papua’s natural resource. They do
not pay attention more for the welfare of its
people. The evidence is West Papua includes one of the poorest regions in terms
of economic, education, history, politic, health, and so on.
(Argument 2) West
Papua seems will not able to establish their own country with conditions including
the poorest region in all aspects as mentioned above. As we have already known
that in West Papua has become a part of NKRI since the proclamation of
Indonesia independence on August 17, 1945. Then why until now West Papua is
still far from the concept of NKRI.
(Argument 3) NKRI is
a state form that consists of many scattered areas or islands with diverse
customs, tribes, cultures and beliefs that have become the nation's basic goal
of an independent, sovereign, unified, equitable, and prosperous with the
government that protect all the people of Indonesia and the entire country of
Indonesia as well as realizing the welfare of general, the intellectual life of
the nation, and the establishment of world order. So what actually causes Papua
still does not enjoy the full concept of NKRI until now.
Analyze the topic
I personally support
West Papua to be a part of NKRI, because of these factors:
1. History: Indonesia
has been fighting hard to regain territory of West Papua from dutch colonial and
maintain it become a part of NKRI since the proclamation of Indonesian
independence on August 17, 1945 until now through complex processes such as Meja Bundar
Conference (KMB) in 1949, New York Agreement in 1962, Pepera 1969, and finalizing the General Assembly of PBB November
19, 1969.
2. Culture: There are so
many unique culture there. For instance: West Papuan population includes more
than 250 ethnic groups and languages.
3. Natural resource: There
are so many tourism objects there. The most popular is Raja Empat. In Raja
Empat there are about 75% of the types of coral reefs which is in the world.
Conclusion
Conclusion
West Papua has so
many natural resources and culture, if they are managed well, then it is so
useful to increase income for Indonesia. So, West Papua should be maintained
become a part of NKRI. And also the government of Indonesia ought to pay
attention more to increase the welfare, education, economic, health, and so on for West Papuan, so
that they will not influence with the other countries to separate their
country become their own country. West Papuan and Indonesia should work
together to maintain Indonesia from Sabang until Merauke, so that all the provinces which include NKRI since the proclamation until now are still same, and
they will never separate anymore.
