The Imitation of Columbus

Introduction

            This paper is a critical perspective on Howard Zinn’s article entitle “Speaking Truth to Power with Book”. The article about a people is very great, Columbus. Many people who claimed that Columbus was the first discoverer of America. They are believe Columbus was the kind one. But, it was different with Howard Zinn’s perspective, who was a historian, playwright, and activist. His name written as one who reveals the history of the United States.

Summary

            Zinn told about Christopher Columbus in his book entitled “A People’s History of the United States, 1492-Present”. The book whose he wrote is contrary to the knowladge of the people who mention Columbus as a great discoverer. However, Zinn claimed Columbus as a murderer, a totturer, a kidnapper, a multilator of native people, a hypocrite, a greedy man looking for gold, willing to kill people and multilate people. There are several basic points that Howard Zinn wrote on Columbus, whom we ridiculously perceive as the discoverer of America.

            First, the real reason Columbus went sailing because he did sexual harassement the daughter of one Spanish nobleman who was 13 years old. Finally, Queen Isabela to sent Columbus on a misision looking for a new continent (The purpose was found India). At the time, India was a developed country. It was proven by the development of their spiritual thinking and intelectuality. Besides that, the usage of tecnology was sophisticate that was because India could make a transportation that called “Vimana”. That interplanetary object was described with triangle that was existed a mercury symbol inside that object. It was clear that the classic people of India was be able to send a messenger by that object for the trip to moon. There is one story about that well-known in India, that was story about Ramayana. From that story we can know the detail story about the exploration to the moon by Vimana (Astra). Besides that, Ramayana also described the conflict on the with an object called “Asvin” (Atlantean). That was the proof about against – gravitation and the technology of aeroplane that was used by people of classic India. In order to understand that technology, we should look back to the past. The Rama empire in North India and Pakistan was formed aroun 15.000 years ago. At the time, it was described that was arisen the sophisticated cities that all matters there was formed sistematically from landscape until irrigation.

            Secound, Columbus was not the first one who discoverer “New World” instead Scandinavians (Vikings) who explored the North America continent in the 11^th century and founded the colony of L’Anse aux Meadow. There in addition, Columbus never arrived at the North America mainland. His journey took to Central America and South America, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands Bahamas and the Caribbean.Actually Columbus did not to found where he landed. The intention to India, instead landed in Cuba. That was why until recent decades Native Americans called American Indian.

Third, Christopher Columbus also commited crimes against the indigenous population that he called the “New World”. Columbus crime do was torturer the natives, whip, making salves and commit genocide. Just to get an information about gold. Besides that, Hellen Ellerbe in “The Dark Side of Christian History” (page 86-88) described the crimes of Columbus. In addition of torturing, he also frequently did sexual harassment the girl. Then he whiped them only for his own pleasure. That was the facts that reveal the world history about Christopher Columbus. Zinn wrote his writing or his book based on the reality or fact.

Main Body (Critique)

There are two points on Columbus that are neglected Zinn article. First, Zinn did not wrote educational background of Christopher Columbus. The historical schooling of Columbus.His father was not a rich man, but he was able to send Columbus, as a boy to the University of Pavia, and here he studied grammar, geometry, geography and navigation, astronomy and the Latin language. But, in his 14^th he left the university and entered in hard work, on the larger college of the world. A few years before the Turks took Constantinople, and in their invasion of Europe, affected the daily life of everyone, young or old, who lived in the Mediterranean countries. From this time, for 15 years, it is hard to trace along the life of Columbus.

Secound, Zinn didi not wrote about Columbus hometown, until his past was still became the mystery. According to a book entitled “A New Theory Clarifying the Identity of Christopher Columbus: A Byzantine Prince From Chios, Greece”. Christopher Columbus was not from Italia. His family was from Liguria and Columbus was born in Genoa. He was a son from Domenico Columbo who local weaver. Columbus wrote Mastiha (The Fragrant Candy) that only produced in Chios. Until present, in Chios Island that located in Yunani. There are many people have clan Columbus. Columbus also stated that he as Columbus de Terra Rubra (Columbus from red land)an region in Chios. Christopher Columbus was not a son of Genovese what worked as weaver wool, but he was a prince of Bizantinum from Chios Island who come with life and education and spiritual aspiration. If Christopher Columbus was from Yunani, it means that Island Chios most probably as Columbus hometown, that he was born there.

Conclusion

            There are two basic points than be conclude from Zinn’s article. First, all that created by us have purpose or goal. It was same as Zinn as well, he explained his ideas to build reader’s consciusness about the lies of Christopher Columbus. Zinn considered that every writing would influence the reader’s life.  According to the writing that was written Kahlil Gibran (1883 – 1931) who was known as Arabian Modern writer. The theme of his arabian writing was known that was caused from the things which became a background for his writing was obvious.

            Secound, on a book entitled A people’s History of United States that was written by Zinn was purposed to all people in the world know the truth about sailing that was done, because in the reality Christopher Columbus was someone who did that sailing. He did that sailing because he wants to gain wealth. Besides that, Christopher Columbus also did the crime on India that he called as “New World”.
