THE BREAK OF CHISTOPER COLUMBUS

Introduction

This paper tell about Howard Zinn’s article entitled “Speaking Truth to Power with Books” and “A People’s History of the United States”. From this articel, Howard Zinn explain about the fact of Chistoper Coulumbus  which doing many slaughter in Amerika. Then this paper tell about  the fact which break of Chistoper Columbus.

Summary

There are several basic points that become the break of Chistoper Columbus by howard Zinn and by many historian. First, before Columbus sail he got problem with Spanish nobleman. Second, when Columbus sail he find mosque in Amerika. Thrid, Coulumbus doing many slaughter in Amerika. 

First, from many articel, Chistoper Columbus was born on 30 Oktober 1451 in Genoa, Itali. When Columbus adult he become captain and great navigator. Before Columbus sail, he got problem with Spanish nobleman that is Columbus raping the daughter of one of the Spanish nobleman who was aged 13 years. Courts can not decide he should be put to death. Occur in 1491 and a priest named Father Perez mediate on behalf of Columbus and pleads with Queen Isabella pleads with which to fund Columbus, if he managed to be able to convert the native Christians, and finally Queen Isabella sent him on a mission to find a new continent (when it was the main purpose is looking for India) and with expectations, Columbus can not go back.  That is the fact which tell about the vices of Columbus.

Second, when Columbus sail he find mosque in Amerika. This notes are listed from Columbus himself, that on October 21, 1492 he saw a mosque in the voyage between Gibara and the Cuban Coast. It shows that Columbus also admitted that there are already a number of people in America who converted to Islam, before his arrival. Columbus thought that the island is not inhabited at all. They are oriented to make the island as the expansion of the Spanish territory. But after barged in, Columbus surprised turned out to find that exactly the building he had seen before when it landed in Africa. The imposing building is a mosque used by the people of Islam to worship.

Furthermore thrid, Coulumbus doing many slaughter in Amerika. From several articles, including Howard Zinn’s article tell about the cruelty of chistoper columbus, who said that Columbus sailors killer, torture, kidnapped, mutilated columbus many indigenous people, hypocrites, greedy people in search of gold, willing to kill people and destroy people. In his diary, Columbus admit, that when he arrived in America, he tortured the natives, hanging, whip, just after the important information: "Where there's Gold?". Helen Ellerbe, in "The Dark Side of Christian History" (p. 86-88), describe the fury Columbus. In addition to torture, he also frequently raped indigenous women, then whip them for the sake of amusement.

Main Body (Critique)

In an Zinn’s article entitled Speaking Truth To Power With Books, Zinn does not include several things such as : First, Zinn did not tell anyone who discovered the Americas. Second, Zinn did not tell about cherokee tribe as a indian tribe who have knowledge of writing.

First, Zinn did not tell anyone who discovered the Americas, from many articel tell discovered of America is  the people of Islam. But why Hoard Zinn did not wrote it in his articel? It is because Howard Zinn is Christians and he did not want the people of Islam advanced then  Christians and in his articel just tell about bad qualities of Chistoper Columbus. Such as, “Columbus as a murderer, a torturer, a kidnapper, a mutilator of native people, a hypocrite, a greedy man looking for gold, willing to kill people and mutilate people – it was shocking.”     

Then, from the article which tell about the discoverer of the Americas is the people of Islam, namely Islam Khashshash bin Said bin Aswad in recorded history in the year 889 BC has landed in the Americas. He is a Muslim navigator from Qordoba, Spain. According to geographer Abul Hassan Ali Ibn al-Hussain al-Masudi (871-957M). In his book Adh-Dhahabwa Muruj Maad al-Jawhar (The Meadows of Gold and Quarries of Jewels / Overlay Gold and gem mines), al-Masudi wrote that Khaskhas Sa'ied Ibn Ibn Aswad, a Muslim explorers from Cordova, Spain, successfully reached the American continent in the 889M. Al-Masudi explained, during the reign of Caliph Abdullah Ibn Muhammad (888-912M) in Andalusia, sailed from Port Delbra Khaskhas (Palos) in 889, crossed the Atlantic to reach a foreign country. Upon his return from the foreign continent, he took home the amazing items, which allegedly originated from the then named the new continent America.

Then by Gavin Menzies first discoverer Americas is Admiral Zheng He or Ceng Ho. Appear confident, Menzies explained his theory about the famous voyage of the sailor mahsyur Chinese origin. Together with evidence discovered from the historical record, he then concluded that accomplished sailor and navigator of the Ming Dynasty it was an early inventor of the American continent, and instead of Columbus. Besides history and also noted that Admiral Ceng Ho Muslim, also landed in the Americas. Interestingly, the admiral who was also a Muslim da `i landed 70 years earlier than Columbus. Even Ceng Ho fleet and ships much larger than Columbus' ships belonging. However, because of the history of the world written by someone else, then the fact that Ceng Ho landed ahead of Columbus seemed to vanish behind the real lie.

In fact,  did not person that become discoverer Americas, because there are indigenous people who live in the Americas. Such as, indian, Arawak, Cherokee, Sioux, Anasazi, Arikana, Chavin Cree, Makkah, Hohokam, Hupa, Hopi, Mahigan, Mohawk, Nazca, Zulu, and Zuni. But the person who first visited the American continent, that is the people of Islam which has been described in an article as follows : First, Amerigo Vespucci discovered a new continent in the years 1499-1500 AD. Second, Colombus new arrived in the year 1492 AD. Third, Khashshash bin Said bin Aswad who had landed on the continent in the year 889 AD. That means the first 600 years of the arrival of the both. The arrival of Muslim sailors to the Americas not just aiming for a picnic or a walk, but spread the last religion that Allah sent down, that this Islam religion.

Second, Zinn did not tell about cherokee tribe as a indian tribe who have knowledge of writing. If we walk or visiting Washington, came to the Library of Congress (Library of Congress). Then, ask the archives treaty government U.S with the Cherokees, one of the Indians, in 1787. There you will find the signature Cherokee Chief at the time, Abdel-Khak and Muhammad Ibn Abdullah.

The contents of the agreement include the right of the Cherokee to establish a presence in trade, shipping, and form of government of the Cherokee tribe, who was based on Islamic law.

Furthermore, it was found that the Cherokee tribal customs dressed close the genitals while the male wears a turban (turban) and the canal at the knees. This dress code can be found in the photo or painting the Cherokees who were photographed before 1832.

Speaking of the Cherokee tribe, can not be separated from Sequoyah. He tends to the native tribe and educated Cherokee Syllabary revive their tribe in 1821. Syllabary is a kind of script. If we now know the alphabet A to Z, then the Cherokee tribe has its own alphabet.

That makes it so remarkable is that characters revived by Sequoyah is similar to the Arabic script. In fact, some people writing cherokee 7th century found carved on rocks in Nevada are very similar to the word "Muhammad" in Arabic.

In general, Indian tribes in America also believe in a God who master the universe. God was not palpable by five senses. They also believed that the main task of human beings created by God is to adore and worship him. As the narrative a Ohiyesa Chieftains: "In the life of the Indians, there was only Inevitable duty-the duty of prayer-the daily recognition of the Unseen and the Eternal". Is not the Qur'an also reported that the purpose of the creation of man and jinn to worship solely to Allah.

Conclusion

There are two basic points that can be concluded from Zinn’s article that is first, we sould critical thinking before believe a history or something. Second, the importance of reading, criticizing a book that an existing, and writing as a result of reading and critiquing.
